I was determined to succeed in the exams swiftly to bring her pride,” shared Animesh.
Reflecting on the challenging period, Animesh, a B Tech (Computer Science) alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, described it as a time of hardship, both mentally and logistically. When questioned about his fascination with sociology, his elective subject for the civil services examinations, Animesh expressed a perpetual curiosity about society and its issues. “During my B Tech, we regularly encountered social science papers each semester, which introduced me to sociology,” he remarked. Animesh disclosed that he opted not to enroll in any coaching classes for the exam.
“In 2022, I began my preparations for the civil services exam, dedicating 6-7 hours to study every day. My educational journey has been entirely in Odisha,” he remarked. Expressing his commitment to contribute to the state, he affirmed that Odisha would be his top preference for cadre placement, emphasizing his desire to give back to his home state.
“I aspire to serve the grassroots and uplift their lives by advocating for improved education and healthcare, particularly in marginalized and underdeveloped regions,” expressed Pradhan. According to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Pradhan listed “parliamentary debating,” “media advocacy and journalism,” and “free-style dancing” as his hobbies. Currently, Animesh is employed in the refineries division of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in the national capital.
Animesh shared that he lost his father in December 2015, during his Class 11 studies. “Losing a parent is an irreplaceable loss. However, I was determined to fulfill their aspirations and bring them pride,” he remarked. Offering advice to civil service aspirants, Animesh emphasized introspection, urging them to ponder their initial motivations. “In the face of adversity, one must remain resilient and maintain an open support network for continuous motivation,” he advised.
