Post-Mauryan sculptures showcased a greater level of realism, intricate detailing, and a shift towards more sensuous and emotive representations of human and divine figures. The fusion of indigenous Indian traditions with Hellenistic and Indo-Greek influences gave rise to unique sculptural forms. The use of various materials, such as stone, terracotta, and ivory, allowed artists to experiment with different textures and forms. Notably, <strong>Satavahana <\/strong>queens made <strong>donations to Buddhist monks<\/strong> in the Western Ghats region, resulting in the construction of caves such as <strong>Karle <\/strong>and <strong>Kanheri<\/strong>.<\/li><li>While these dynasties predominantly patronized Brahmanism, they continued to support <strong>Buddhism <\/strong>and <strong>Jainism<\/strong>, albeit on a smaller scale compared to Ashoka&#8217;s time.<\/li><li>During this phase,<strong> state patronage persisted<\/strong>, albeit to a lesser degree, as local entities like guilds and common citizens began to assume more significant roles in the development of art and sculpture.<\/li><li>Various motifs, particularly those featuring <strong><em>yakshas <\/em><\/strong>and <strong><em>yakshis<\/em><\/strong>, gained widespread popularity.
