It has created a serious cause of concern for the authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Project_Cheetah\"><\/span><strong>Project Cheetah:<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It is an initiative of Indian Government <strong>to relocate cheetahs<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The objective is <strong>to introduce 5-10 cheetahs each year for the next ten years<\/strong>, with the goal of establishing a self-sustaining population of approximately 35 cheetahs.&nbsp;<\/li><li>In South Africa and Namibia cheetahs inhabit enclosed reserves whereas in India they are allowed to thrive in natural, wilderness settings.&nbsp;<\/li><li>At present, 11 of the relocated cheetahs are in the true wild, while four are being kept in specialized enclosures.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Issues_with_the_Project_Cheetah\"><\/span><strong>Issues with the Project Cheetah:<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kuno National Park has too little space and prey for 20 cheetahs.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It has three cheetahs per 100 sq. km compared to one cheetah per 100 sq. km in Africa.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A cheetah\u2019s home range is over 1,600 sq. km of unfenced territory. Whereas area of Kuno is 750 sq. km.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The prolonged confinement of cheetahs in quarantine has had adverse effects on their ability to adapt and has led to psychological adjustment issues.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Unlike tigers and leopards, cheetahs are comparatively fragile creatures and are more prone to sustaining fatal injuries in the wild. These guidelines were issued after the <strong>Indira Jaising vs. Union of India case<\/strong> in 2017 ruling.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"About_Senior_Advocates\"><\/span><strong>About Senior Advocates<\/strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>These are Advocates who are designated as <strong>Senior Advocates by the Supreme Court<\/strong> or by any <strong>High Court.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><li>A Senior Advocate is <strong>not entitled to appear without an Advocate-on-Record<\/strong> in the SC or without a junior in any other court or tribunal in India.&nbsp;<\/li><li>He is also <strong>not entitled to accept instructions to draw pleadings or affidavits<\/strong>, a<strong>dvise on evidence or do any drafting work<\/strong> of an analogous kind in any court or tribunal in India.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"About_the_New_guidelines\"><\/span><strong>About the New guidelines<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Indira Jaising<\/strong>, India\u2019s first woman Senior Advocate, challenged the existing process as <strong>\u201copaque\u201d, \u201carbitrary\u201d and \u201cfraught with nepotism.\u201d<\/strong> Thus, the SC in 2017 decided to lay down guidelines for itself and all HCs on the process of designating senior advocates.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Since the SC acknowledged that the 2017 guidelines <strong>were not exhaustive<\/strong>, in February 2023 the Central Government sought to change guidelines for the designation of senior lawyers.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The new guidelines prescribe the <strong>minimum age as 45 years<\/strong> to apply for the \u2018senior advocate\u2019. However this age limit may be relaxed by the <strong>Committee, the Chief Justice of India, or a Supreme Court judge<\/strong> if they have recommended an advocate\u2019s name.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The new guidelines <strong>assign only 5 marks<\/strong> for \u201cpublication of academic articles, experience of teaching assignments in the field of law,\u201d and \u201cguest lectures delivered in law schools and professional institutions connected with law\u201d combined, which earlier used to be 15.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Weightage given to reported and unreported judgements<\/strong>, excluding
