118+ languages, 500+ dialects, 10 major dance forms, and a multitude of kitchen arts) Hence, although challenging, cultural regionalization in India can be made based on the linguistic, ethnic, and religious diversity of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cultural_Regions_of_India\"><\/span>Cultural Regions of India:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Based_on_language_Religion_and_Culture\"><\/span>Based on language, Religion and Culture:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 10 cultural regions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Kashmiri \u2013 Muslim Cultural Region<ul><li>Stretches from the valley of Kashmir to southern parts of Ladakh (Kargil) divisions.<\/li><li>Predominantly Muslim-dominated region<\/li><li>Kashmiri language<\/li><li>Presence of Hindus and Sikhs as minorities, Kashmiri speaking.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Ladakhi \u2013 Buddhist Cultural Region<ul><li>Dominance of Buddhism<\/li><li>Ladakhi language<\/li><li>Presence of Gompas and Monasteries in this region.<\/li><li>Cultural centers- Leh and Dhramshala<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Kinnauri \u2013 Dev \u2013 Bhumi Cultural Region:<ul><li>Himachal and Uttarakhand called the Dev \u2013 Bhumi due to presence of many religious shrines (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Haridwar, etc.).<\/li><li>Himachal region- Kinnauri is the dominant language<\/li><li>Uttarakhand- Hindi is the dominant language<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Sikh \u2013 Gurumukhi Cultural Region:<ul><li>Punjab-Chandigarh region<\/li><li>Dominance of Sikhs<\/li><li>Punjabi language<\/li><li>Hindus as minorities<\/li><li>Presence of Gurudwaras in every village and town.<\/li><li>Pilgrimage Center- Golden Temple, Amritsar<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Hindu \u2013 Hindi Cultural Region<ul><li>Bihar, Haryana, MP, Rajasthan, southern parts of Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.<\/li><li>Hindi heartland<\/li><li>Dominance of the Hindu religion.<\/li><li>Western UP and Urban centres- Muslims constitute a significant minority<\/li><li>Sikhs and Christians also sprinkled in the urban areas like Delhi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, Agra, and Allahabad.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Mixed Cultural Region of North East India<ul><li>Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura region of mixed culture. Eg. Kuki, Maiteyi, Garo, Khasi dominance of Hindus, Christians, Muslims and Tribal religion.<\/li><li>Great diversity in the languages, religions, customs, folk-dances, music, and folk medicine.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Bengali Cultural Region<ul><li>West Bengal and the adjacent regions of Jharkhand and Bihar.<\/li><li>Dominance of Bengali language.<\/li><li>Dominant Religion-Hinduism<\/li><li>Muslims constitute a significant minority in isolated pockets.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Tribo \u2013 Hindu Cultural Region<ul><li>Chotanagpur Plateau region<\/li><li>Hindu dominant religion, while Christians also significant in number<\/li><li>Majority Hindi speaking region<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Marathi Hindu Cultural Region<ul><li>Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat, Goa, adjacent regions of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.<\/li><li>Dominance of the Marathi language and Hindu population.<\/li><li>Concentration of Muslims and Buddhists is in isolated pockets.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Dravido Cultural Region<ul><li>People belong to the Palaeo \u2013 Mediterranean race Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.<\/li><li>People belong to the Palaeo \u2013 Mediterranean race<\/li><li>Dravidian language. Eg.
