The National Building Code that provides guidelines for regulating building construction activities, are not adhered by builders.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Apathy towards laws make illegal construction a trend that continues to take life of innocent citizens.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Moreover, the standards prescribed for construction are at best poorly defined that people either do not understand or are not aware of.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Poor designs of buildings that could not withstand extra floors are also no less to be blamed. Poor quality materials used in construction makes any expansion a tough proposition.&nbsp;<\/li><li>At the root of such incidence is unplanned urbanization that forces one to opt for accommodation that is built illegally in face of limited choices that people get in ever expanding urban areas.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Somewhere the government has also failed in providing affordable accommodation to citizens hence they go for illegal properties.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Above all the builders\u2019 moral attributes are to be blamed in totality that finds it alright to compromise people\u2019s life in return for monetary gains.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Measures_to_prevent_such_occurrences\"><\/span><strong>Measures to prevent such occurrences:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Immediate arrest for the builder violating the law.\u00a0<\/li><li>Deaths due to illegal constructions must be deemed to be murder and dealt with accordingly.\u00a0<\/li><li>The government should upload the approved design on its website so the buyers are aware of the illegality of the extra floors.\u00a0<\/li><li>Approval by a qualified architect must be made mandatory in each multistoried construction.\u00a0<\/li><li>No amnesty scheme must be brought from\u00a0<\/li><li>The officers involved in commission and omission must be arrested and punished quickly.\u00a0<\/li><li>The Labour Department must conduct regular surveys of under-construction buildings and take action against such builders at the earliest.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, action must be taken to avert incidents of building collapse.
