Looking from a humanistic angle, it is generally found that psychological aspects are also involved in the given ill practice, where people in hardship find refuge in intoxication.\u00a0<\/li><li>Along with conventional policing, I will fall back on<strong> \u2018community policing\u2019 <\/strong>as done in Kerala as well to seek a complete and effective solution to the problem.\u00a0 Based upon this particular case, conventional policing comprising raids, arrest, police cases and criminal cases are ineffective in decreasing illegal distilling and consumption of liquor.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Apart from the fact that the Superintendent of Police has the mandate for policing to look after the state of law and order and to take measures to check illegal and criminal activities.\u00a0 So I will carry out my role according to the mandate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>I will promote the agricultural, small scale, and cottage industries. Promoting more participation of people in agricultural activities will act as motivation for more positive engagement and investment at the right places.\u00a0<\/li><li>I will promote SHGs to cooperate with the government and police department.\u00a0<\/li><li>I will deploy police personnel (without uniform) and volunteer groups at grass root level.\u00a0<\/li><li>An app will be launched to report any illicit distillation, places of imminent dangers, violence, etc. The App is to be monitored by police for swift action.\u00a0<\/li><li>Street plays will be organized and the community will be mobilized in support of liquor ban. By participating in street play, and listening to it, the consciousness of a person will be shaken and he can be reformed.\u00a0<\/li><li>Even while resorting to conventional policing I will try to stay \u2018humane and sensitive\u2019 and not generally take \u2018third degree\u2019 measures till it becomes indispensable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>I will try to urge other stakeholders with authority in the loop such as district magistrate, MLAs and MPs to carry on development initiatives in the right earnest and efficiently so as to eradicate deprivation and lack of development that drives people to seek livelihood from illegal distillation which has other serious repercussions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>And lastly, I will collaborate with schools and colleges to educate and make people cognizant of ill effects of illegal distillation and the possibilities of better livelihood opportunities and a dignified life. This will touch a very large number of families and youths.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The prime motive is a total prohibition on illicit distillation but given the situation on the ground, it is prudent to first pursue with socioeconomic, psychological, and ethical considerations.
