{"id":31569,"date":"2024-03-02T14:13:48","date_gmt":"2024-03-02T14:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edukemy.com\/blog\/?p=31569"},"modified":"2024-03-02T14:13:51","modified_gmt":"2024-03-02T14:13:51","slug":"national-tiger-conservation-authority-ntca-upsc-environment-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edukemy.com\/blog\/national-tiger-conservation-authority-ntca-upsc-environment-notes\/","title":{"rendered":"National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) &#8211; UPSC Environment Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) was established in 2005 following the recommendations of the Tiger Task Force.\u00a0<\/li><li>Its formation is in accordance with Section 38 L (1) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972.\u00a0<\/li><li>The NTCA is a body that oversees and ensures the protection of tigers and their habitats in India.<\/li><li>The composition of the NTCA includes the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Environment and Forests as the Chairperson, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment and Forests as the Vice-Chairperson, three Members of Parliament, the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, and other members.<\/li><li>Operating under the<strong> Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972,<\/strong> the NTCA fulfills its mandate by providing oversight through advisories and normative guidelines.\u00a0<\/li><li>These guidelines are based on assessments of the tiger&#8217;s status, ongoing conservation initiatives, and recommendations from specially constituted Committees.<\/li><li>To execute its responsibilities effectively, the NTCA has established conservation units. These units, led by a field director and supported by technical experts, work towards the protection and conservation of tigers.<\/li><li>The NTCA conducts a comprehensive country-level assessment of the status of tigers, co-predators, prey, and habitat every four years.\u00a0<\/li><li>This assessment follows the methodology approved by the Tiger Task Force, ensuring a systematic and periodic
