India enacted the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999 in order to comply with the obligations to<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>(a) ILO<br>(b) IMF<br>(c) UNCTAD<br>(d) WTO<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Answer: D<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Article 22 of the TRIPS Agreements (WTO Agreement) defines Geographical Indication as \u201cindications which identify a good as originating in the territory of a Member, or a region or locality in that territory, where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the good is essentially attributable to its geographical origin\u201d. Consequently, upon India joining as a member state of the TRIPS Agreement suigenies legislation for the protection of geographical indication was enacted in 1999.
