In the Indian Constitution<\/strong>, provisions regarding the Union Public Service Commissions<\/strong> are found in Article XIV<\/strong>. There exists a Public Service Commission<\/strong> for the Union<\/strong> and a Public Service Commission<\/strong> for the States<\/strong>. The UPSC<\/strong> (Union Public Service Commission) serves as the central recruitment agency<\/strong> in India. Established directly by the Constitution of India<\/strong>, the UPSC<\/strong> is an independent constitutional body<\/strong>, consisting of a Chairman<\/strong> and other members appointed by the President of India<\/strong>. Typically, the commission comprises nine to eleven members, including the Chairman, with half of them having held office for at least ten years under the Government of India<\/strong> or a State<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President<\/strong>, empowered by the Constitution<\/strong>, determines the conditions of service for the Chairman<\/strong> and other commission members. These members, including the Chairman, hold office for a term of six years or until they reach the age of 65<\/strong>. Removal before the term’s expiry can occur as per the Constitution’s provisions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UPSC<\/strong> undertakes various functions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
