For Harari, the Agricultural Revolution was history\u2019s biggest fraud.<\/li><li>The Scientific Revolution &#8211; which got under way only 500 years ago, may well end history and start something completely different for it has empowered Sapiens to transform their environment and themselves, giving them superhuman powers and practically limitless energy. This Revolution has seen mythical stories replaced by falsifiable theories, certainties replaced by uncertainty, conservatism replaced by curiosity, and perhaps most importantly, words replaced by numbers. But are we any happier?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Future is Trans &#8211; The story of Sapiens is coming to an end (in the next century or so), as the species has outgrown its hominid self. Through science and technology they have the power and intelligence to become gods and create new artificial life and recreate themselves. <strong>Sapiens are the new gods of \u2018Intelligent Design\u2019 \u2013 they are Homo Deus<\/strong>. Their future is not human, it is transhuman as they transition into something new on destroying themselves first. The problem with Sapiens is that despite their power, they do not know what they want. They do not even know what they want to want. Is there anything more dangerous than dissatisfied and irresponsible gods who don\u2019t know what they want?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The myths Sapiens share define who they are and what they do. Take money, a most powerful shared fiction. that they have value. Endowed with shared meaning, money becomes a unit of exchange, peace of mind, and the measure of our choices. And importantly, it explains behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He attached the time frame of aeons to the time frame of punditry\u2014of now, and soon. His narrative of flux, of revolution after revolution, ended urgently, and perhaps conveniently, with a cliffhanger.<strong> \u201cSapiens,\u201d while acknowledging that \u201chistory teaches us that what seems to be just around the corner may never materialise,\u201d suggests that our species is on the verge of a radical redesign.
