--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 295\/192;\" \/><figcaption><strong>Gwalior Fort<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Gwalior Fort<\/strong> was built in the <strong>8th century<\/strong>, and its origins can be traced back to the <strong>Tomar dynasty<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It is strategically located on a <strong>steep sandstone hill<\/strong>, which provides a natural defence advantage.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It is built on an outcrop of <strong>Vindhyan sandstone<\/strong> on a rocky, solitary, thin and long steep hill called <strong>Gopachal<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The earliest record of the fort is mentioned in an inscription in the temple of the <strong>Hun Emperor<\/strong>,<strong> Mihirakula<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Monuments inside the Fort:<\/strong> Man Mandir, Gajari Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, Teli ka Mandir, Saas Bahu Temple, etc.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li><strong>Khooni Bhandara, Burhanpur:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"355\" height=\"267\" data-src=\"https:\/\/edukemy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-33.png\" alt=\"Khooni Bhandara\" class=\"wp-image-37349 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 355px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 355\/267;\" \/><figcaption><strong>Khooni Bhandara<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Khooni Bhandara<\/strong> is an <strong>underground water management system<\/strong> comprising eight waterworks built in the historical city of <strong>Burhanpur<\/strong> in MP.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Built on a similar <strong>Persian qanat approach<\/strong>, these water systems were constructed in <strong>1615 CE<\/strong> during the governorship of <strong>Abdur Rahim khan- Khanan <\/strong>during Mughal Emperor <strong>Jahangir\u2019s reign<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Khooni Bhandara Qanat system exhibits the <strong>intercultural exchange<\/strong> of <strong>Persian<\/strong> and Water Management Systems with <strong>local and regional adaptations<\/strong> in Central India by the Mughal rulers.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Qanat_System\"><\/span><strong>Qanat System<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Qanat system was used widely across <strong>Persia<\/strong> and the <strong>Middle East<\/strong> for many reasons:&nbsp;<\/li><li>The system <strong>requires no energy<\/strong>, reliant on the force of gravity alone.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The system can <strong>carry water across long distances<\/strong> through subterranean chambers <strong>avoiding leakage<\/strong>,<strong> evaporation<\/strong>,<strong> or pollution<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The <strong>discharge is fixed<\/strong> <strong>by nature<\/strong>, producing only the amount of water that is distributed naturally from a spring or mountain, <strong>ensuring the water table is not depleted<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It allows <strong>access to a reliable and plentiful source of water<\/strong> to those living in otherwise marginal landscapes.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>In India<\/strong>, the Qanat system specifically is found in the historic cities of the <strong>Deccan<\/strong> primarily <strong>Aurangabad<\/strong>,<strong> Bijapur <\/strong>and<strong> Bidar<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li><strong>Rock Art in the Chambal Basin:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"276\" height=\"207\" data-src=\"https:\/\/edukemy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-31.png\" alt=\"Rock Art in the Chambal Basin\" class=\"wp-image-37347 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 276px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 276\/207;\" \/><figcaption><strong>Rock Art in the Chambal Basin<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Chambal Basin and Central India region contain the <strong>world\u2019s largest known rock art sites<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Chambal Basin covers parts of <strong>MP<\/strong>,<strong> Rajasthan<\/strong>,<strong> and UP<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Rock art in the Chambal Basin<\/strong> dates back to the <strong>Early Holocene<\/strong> and has been crafted by various civilizations over different historical periods.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It bears an exceptional testimony to the civilization of <strong>Acheulian<\/strong>,<strong> Lower<\/strong>,<strong> Middle and Upper Palaeolithic<\/strong>,<strong> Mesolithic<\/strong>,<strong> Chalcolithic <\/strong>and<strong> Early Historical periods<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It contains depictions which are related to a particular way of life of the people of that period.&nbsp;<\/li><li>During the <strong>Mesolithic period<\/strong> the theme of the paintings is related to hunting, gathering, collecting and fishing.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>The Chalcolithic period<\/strong> focuses on the cattle theme.
