A striking example is the city of Chennai, where urban areas witnessed a staggering 70 percent growth between 1991 and 2016, primarily towards the outskirts. <\/em><\/strong>Forecasts paint a concerning picture, projecting that urban sprawl will encroach upon valuable forests, mangroves, and agricultural land, potentially engulfing them by the year 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
