When these winds hit the <strong>Himalayan mountains<\/strong>, they are forced to <strong>rise upward suddenly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As they rise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Temperature drops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water vapour condenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy rain occurs over a very small area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This forced uplift leads to <strong>intense, concentrated rainfall \u2192 cloudburst<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Global_Warming_and_Mountain_Heating\"><\/span>2. <strong>Global Warming and Mountain Heating<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though mountains are cooler than plains, <strong>climate change has warmed them too<\/strong>.
