It forms when <strong>pollutants mix with atmospheric conditions like moisture, temperature, and sunlight<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For UPSC, smog is broadly classified into <strong>two types<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Winter Smog (Classical Smog)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Summer Smog (Photochemical Smog)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Winter_Smog_Classical_Smog\"><\/span>Winter Smog (Classical Smog)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Winter smog usually forms in <strong>cold and humid conditions<\/strong> when <strong>dense air traps pollutants near the surface<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During winters, <strong>temperature inversion<\/strong> prevents vertical air movement.
