Every year, thousands of UPSC aspirants follow the same cycle. They collect current affairs, make notes, collect more notes, and eventually end up with a 1,000-page annual compilation.<\/p>\n

Because apparently, if 300 pages are useful, 1,000 pages must be even better.<\/p>\n

Then comes the Mains examination. A question looks familiar. You remember reading about it several times. Yet, when you actually sit down to answer, you struggle to put those facts together.<\/p>\n

The problem is not necessarily that you lack information.<\/p>\n

The problem is the way that information has been organised in your preparation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

UPSC Mains is increasingly moving beyond:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

and towards:<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that this has happened, do you understand the system around it?\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

That requires a completely different way of approaching Current Affairs.<\/p>\n
