This specialized subject&#8217;s syllabus for UPSC covers a wide range of topics, including the study of society, social institutions, sociological thinkers, social movements, and research methods in sociology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates who choose Sociology as their optional subject will have to appear for two papers, each carrying 250 marks, thereby resulting in a total of 500 marks for this subject. These optional papers are an integral part of the UPSC Mains Examination, which is conducted after the IAS Preliminary exam.
