History repeats itself!
Previously, we read how History is actually about conceptual understanding, & how we as UPSC Aspirants, need to learn something from History, to implement it today as Civil Servants.
Today, we will see how History Repeats itself!
When we say this, it means, that there are themes that are of more importance to be read in History when preparing for UPSC.
Look at this question from UPSC Prelims 2015.
The question asks about the overall objective of the GoI Act, of 1919.
Now look at this question from UPSC Prelims 2016.
This time, UPSC asked the same question but mentioned it as the Montague-Chelmsford Proposal.
Further, if you look at this question from UPSC Prelims 2021, we again see a question asking for details on Montague-Chelmsford Reforms.
From a UPSC Mains perspective, look at this question on the Indian Renaissance from 2006.
The same question, with a wider ambit, gets repeated in 2019.
Similarly, look at these 3 questions based on a comparison between Gandhi & Other Leaders.
- Difference between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (UPSC 2015 Mains)
- Gandhi & SC Bose (UPSC 2016 Mains)
- Gandhi & Rabindranath Tagore (UPSC 2023 Mains)
These are just a few examples. We have compiled a list of such repeating themes for HISTORY so that you can apply the Pareto Principle in your UPSC Exam Preparation! (Find in FREE RESOURCES)
